Opportunity Groupe Atlantic based in the city of Hull are seeking to appoint a Design Engineer to join their growing R&D Department. Based at their R&D Centre of Excellence thhe Design Engineer will carry out activities within NPI and ECP projects. The Design Engineer will be required to participate in all related engineering/technical activity in delivery of the project programme and development of the competence centre within R&D. The Design Engineer will also be responsible for: * Leading design aspects of R&D projects * Providing design leadership/responsibility for R&D projects * Helping define the Product Specification * Providing solutions to design problems * Completing of design work on given R&D projects * Supporting the Project Manager * Liaising closely with suppliers and cross-functional team members * Ensuring that design conforms to specified product performance and cost * Looking for improvement opportunities in current working practices * Proactivly with the ability to work on their own initiative * The timely release of all design data, including: General arrangement layouts, * Detailing drawings, Spares data, Implementation of FMEA generated output and Certification drawings * The quality of released data * Material choice, tolerance etc. * Ensuring suitability of design for manufacture & assembly DFM/DFA Person The successful candidates must have: * Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal * Logically minded with the ability to analyse and evaluate information quickly and accurately * Skilled problem solver with the ability to take the wider view * Able to perform well whilst working under pressure and to strict deadlines * Outgoing and confident personality with the skills to build and maintain positive working relationships quickly * Solid and reliable team player * Ability to pay attention to detail at all times * Well organised with time management and prioritisation skills * Comfortable with decision making * Flexible and robust with a ‘can-do’ attitude Applicants should have a HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline and knowledge of 3D CAD design (preferably Siemens NX) along with an understanding of full product generation from concept through to product implementation.
