Well established and with the specific aim of providing a comprehensive worldwide freight forwarding service to UK manufacturers, exporters and importers who demanded a cost-effective service together with a high degree of personal attention. Today they have a global network of agents providing up to date local customs and transport information enabling the provision of a door-to-door service worldwide by air, road or sea. With an experienced and enthusiastic team working to a quality system, combined with the financial back-up of their parent company, they serve a diverse client base throughout the UK of sole traders through to multi-national blue-chip clients. We are now recruiting for a Freight Operations Manager to work within the freight team in a hands-on capacity leading your team from the front. MAIN PURPOSE& DUTIES OF ROLE * Manage the existing Operations team members. * Manage the day-to-day key client account requirements. * Manage the day-to-day export and import bookings of Air, Road and Sea Freight jobs. (Primarily Sea Freight) * Raising Job files and all of the appropriate operations paperwork. * Processing jobs through the freight forwarding software system. * Customs entries using the NES system. * Extensive client liaison and negotiation. * Extensive supplier liaison and negotiation. * Internal liaison with the sales team assisting with quotations and service information. * Managing the jobs from quotation stage to final invoicing in line with the client expectations and communicating effectively any service issues. * Maximising the gross profit by negotiating with the supplier base. * Proactively contacting the existing clients to maximise business potential. * Invoicing jobs on completion. SKILLS& EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * Freight Management experience with a bias towards Ocean freight forwarding experience. * Excellent customer service or sales experience * Confident communication skills * European languages an advantage (but not essential) * Good organisational skills * Good attention to detail * Can work to deadlines and handle pressure * Quick thinker / problem solving * Self-motivated and enthusiastic character * Ability to work with and support a team SALARY AND BENEFITS * Circa£ – £k Dependent on Experience + Bonus £k OTE, * Company Car * Pension
