IS Infrastructure Analyst – Centrica – Kingston upon Hull

Centrica Storage Limited (CSL), is looking for a IS Infrastructure Analyst.

Responsible for providing the implementation, maintenance and second line support for key IS infrastructure services to ensure the stable operation of the organisation’s infrastructure, data and voice networks:

Works closely with service desk team to resolve incidents within SLAs and undertakes problem management

Proactively identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution

Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures

Provides technical expertise in the evaluation, design and implementation of infrastructure projects including provisioning of required environments

Contributes to the planning of maintenance and installation work and implements planned updates and security patches

Provides technical delivery to project teams and business as usual teams to ensure secure and robust operational IS services

Assists with the identification and resolution of security vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure

Location: Woodland House, Hessle, Hull

Travel: Occasional travel within the UK to other Centrica sites including CSL’s offshore gas platform

Accountabilities

1. Planning; plans infrastructure support activities

2. Financial Responsibilities; provides financial reporting – budget spend and forecasts, as required

3. Operational Responsibilities; implements, configures and supports the infrastructure services, data and voice networks (desktop, applications, infrastructure and other technologies) during the hours required by the Business ensuring infrastructure availability, performance, reliability, security and capacity are provided in line with agreed service level agreements:

Provides 2nd line infrastructure support resolving all incidents and requests in line with SLA’s and under taking problem management

Assists with the provision of service continuity / disaster recovery, capacity management, configuration and asset management, data protection and IS security

Documents all technical infrastructure components and their configuration for support purposes

Documents all work carried out in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures and adheres to any applicable configuration management procedures

Creates and enforces effective measures to safeguard corporate services

Monitors system backup schedules

Supports the planning and delivery of desktop, server and application patches, maintenance releases and all major product enhancement releases to IS infrastructure components to ensure the security of CSL IT systems.

Assesses the technical security aspects of the design, development and implementation of small IS changes and IS projects and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are correctly applied

4. Stakeholders

Responds to requests for support in a timely manner and according to agreed SLAs and procedures

Ensures stakeholders are kept informed of progress and that corrective action is taken to avoid delays

5. Leadership and People Management (or Teamwork)

Pro-actively contributes to overall team objectives, responding effectively to new directives

Actively promotes and encourages team working across IS, both within CSL and across the wider Centrica DTS (Digital Technology Services) Teams.

Actively promotes and motivates other team members to work to, and deliver to the best of their abilities with care and determination

Competencies

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Ability to articulate technical detail to a non-technical audience

Familiarisation with Microsoft Operating Systems and applications including O365

Familiarisation with IT network technologies and best practices

Familiarisation with cloud computing technologies such as Microsoft Azure

Awareness of Information Security legislation, regulation and good practice eg. Data Protection Act, GDPR, ISO 27001.#

Work Experience:

Experience of working with Microsoft technologies including Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/19, Active Directory, Group Policy

Experience of supporting IT network infrastructure

Experience of providing 2nd line support

Certifications:

Successful candidate will be required to undertake the Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET) certification which is a requirement for offshore work
