Position Description:
CGI is a leader in mission-critical software systems for the space industry. We work on the major European navigation, communication and earth observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems. Over 35 years‘ experience of the space business coupled with commercial and technical expertise, with a reputation for resilient, innovative, secure and highly cost-effective programmes.
Our in-depth space sector knowledge and our contribution to major technical advances ensure that we contribute to many of the world‘s most prestigious space programmes, including Cassini-Huygens, Galileo, Copernicus, Inmarsat 4, MSG, MTG, MTSAT, Rosetta, Skynet and XMM-Newton. Our software has supported the missions of more than 200 satellites.
We are looking for senior, mid-level and junior level Java developers to join the team and support us in creating mission critical solutions for our exciting range of projects and programmes within the space sector.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Working with a highly experienced team, the successful candidate will be able to work in an agile environment, delivering excellent quality code against customer requirements and responding well to change. You will take responsibility appropriate to their seniority for the design of their code and review of others‘, and be able to test their code rigorously. They will work with the test team to identify, prioritise and fix any defects before delivery to the customer. They will take part in internal and customer workshops to plan, review, and problem-solve.
• Writing well designed and efficient code
• Contribute in all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Working closely with the project team including testing / design authority / project management, to ensure all work is completed to the required standard
• Deliver new capability to a broad range of Mission Critical solutions across our exciting portfolio of projects.
• Produce and update documentation at a defined standard.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Hand-on Commercial Java Development experience
• Working in an agile environment
• Strong knowledge of the SDLC
• Excellent Problem-Solving solving ability and development Logic.
• Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
• No Previous experience of the Space Domain Required
