Maintenance Engineer, Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm fixed shift with some flexibility required.
Job Purpose: The Shift Engineer maintains the operation of production and premises of the factory, for both mechanical and electrical systems. Work performed and service rendered must always be of the highest standard and priority. The individual also provides technical support to the engineering and production departments, maximising production equipment up time and efficiency as measured through KPIs.
Relationships and Authority:
The Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor
The Engineer also works closely with the Engineering Manager, Shift Supervisors and Team Leaders
General Function and Tasks The responsibility of plant maintenance, to include :
Maintaining a plant maintenance system that meets the requirements of the Plant Maintenance Policy and Engineering work procedure
Ensuring that all delegated electrical/mechanical maintenance is performed with full regard to product safety, quality and employee Health and Safety
Implementing programs for continual process quality improvement
Attending to all documentation relevant to the plant maintenance system and Quality Department requirements
Attend to all requirements of the production personnel within the factory
Liaising with other Engineers and Factory Leadership to schedule work
Liaising with contractors when necessary
Purchasing essential spares and equipment at the best possible price
Maintaining the job card system in conjunction with Engineering Supervisor
Maintaining the cleanliness of the workshop to conform to the Quality standard of the company
Adhere to the toolbox guideline procedure
Ensure that on completion of a job that the area is clean
To ensure effective efficiency of production by working with the Factory Leadership and other Engineers to achieve agreed plant up-time and preventative maintenance schedule .
Actively take part in machine trials, continuous improvement and other development work
Ensure that engineering standards are maintained/improved and that the engineering work areas are maintained to acceptable standards
To ensure product quality is at the highest level, by:
Ensuring that all delegated electrical/mechanical maintenance is performed with full regard to product safety and quality
Implementing programs for continual process quality improvement
Working with other sections of the Company to improve quality
Maintaining good relations with fellow staff and assist where possible when asked, in a timely manner. To be involved with insuring staff safety, to include :
Ensuring you are adequately informed in Occupational Health and Safety (use of hazardous substances, manual handling, emergency shutdown and evacuation, confined space entry, accident and hazard reporting, workplace inspections, etc)
Ensuring that work done is carried out with due regard to personal safety
Ensuring all equipment is maintained at a safe level of operation according to current regulations
Maintaining a high level of housekeeping within the work place
Maintaining the safety program as it applies to maintenance activity
Further Occupational Health and safe environment responsibilities include :
Observing all relevant Company rules and instructions relating to health, safety and welfare ensuring their personal safety and that of others
Using the personal protective equipment, clothing or safeguards provided
Reporting immediately any equipment, conditions or practices appearing likely to jeopardise health or safety
Reporting all accidents, whether or not injury was sustained and any ill health that may be related to the work activity
Being aware of the fire evacuation procedure, location of any break glass alarm points and fire extinguishers
