Job Purpose and Impact

Location: Hull (HU6 7PH)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a global organisation with a commitment to continuous improvement as part of the Process Engineering team for the plant. The Process Engineer will be involved in supporting the implementation of new/ modified processes and plant equipment, from initial design development and evaluation to construction and handover. The position holder will also support the plant production team to identify and run continuous improvement projects to improve processes and plant assets, that help run the plant more efficiently, eliminate/reduce variants and ensure a continuous improvement philosophy is driven into the plant. 

The position is a Monday-Friday days based position. Occasional flexibility may be required to support outside of these hours. 

Key Accountabilities

• To ensure compliance with all EHS legislation and standards 
• Identifying opportunities and engineering design to address cost saving opportunities; including, process yield analysis, advanced troubleshooting techniques monitoring and reporting energy efficiency data and trends and thinking of creative ways to save energy in the process 
• Improve processes through implementing modifications of existing equipment, conducting de-bottlenecking studies, identifying best practice and external opportunities to improve processes 
• Co-ordinating multi-functional teams to manage process improvement projects through to delivery
• Support the manufacturing team to trouble shoot process issues, using recognised problem solving tools 
• Track and control key performance indicators including costs, chemical usage, energy, yields, and operational standards.
• Create process documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and risk assessments to control the implementation of new processes, new equipment and design changes
• Become a department technical expert and identify ways to optimise and improve production performance
• Provide Process Engineering support for capital projects 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent 
• Experience of performing process calculations, equipment sizing and development of P&IDs 
• Experience working in a Manufacturing environment in a Process/ Project Engineering position 

Preferred Qualifications
• Use of PI (data historian), ACAD (Auto CAD), MS Project programs
• Experience with Green Belt, Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
• Experience working on small to medium capital projects including scoping, designing unit operations, cost control and process risk assessments
